Timed Sex Sucks

For those of us who struggle with infertility the task of having sex on specific days can sometimes be daunting. We are told by our doctors that to up our odds (which the odds have not be in our favour) we should participate in intercourse with clockwork precision. My doctor handed me some papers when giving me the Clomid that specifically states to have sex every other day beginning on day 12 through day 20. This is the norm for anyone with infertility issues.

Normally, Jay and I have no problem with *cough cough* doing the deed. But…when adding in the stress of knowing that you NEED to, HAVE to “do it” on those days makes everything just suck (no pun intended).  It is awkward when neither of us are “in the mood” (or even worse if only one of us are).  With intercourse planned down to the hour, one sometimes forgets that most pregnancies happen at completely random and/or spur of the moment situations.

But we put on our big girl panties, or more precisely take them off, and do what needs to be done to get our little peanut. We do just the minimum and get our participation ribbon for that day and then sigh in relief that it’s done. I know this doesn’t sound romantic or glamorous but it’s the cold, hard truth (at least for us).

***This is the first post that was written by both Jay and I. 🙂

Every other day? Does that mean not at all in between or you just don’t HAVE to but can?

My doctor suggested not in between to have a chance to build up semen reserves. It’s blah!
